5 Things You Won’t Likely Find Anywhere If The Apocalypse Comes

With all that’s going on in the world right now, the thought of the apocalypse has certainly crossed a few people’s minds. But that got us thinking: what are the most important items you need in time?

More specifically: what are the five things you won’t likely find anywhere because they will be in such demand?

Whatever causes the end of the world as we know it, there are certain items that will be key to survival. Unfortunately, everyone will be after the same things, so the likelihood you get them all is slim.

That said, if you can get your hands on them, make sure you protect them – your life literally depends on it!

So without further ado, here are five things you won’t likely find anywhere if the apocalypse comes:

🧗‍♂️ 1. Rope

Rope For Survival

You won’t realize how important having rope is until you don’t have it. There are all sorts of situations in a post-apocalyptic world that rope becomes vital to your survival.

For example, you can use it to tie your essentials to the top of a tree or rooftop to prevent animals from getting to it. You can also use it as a snare to catch animals for food or even to tie things together like a hammock to keep yourself from sleeping on the ground.

There is no limit to the number of its potential uses.

Everyone else will have the same thing in mind. Rope may even become one of the most valuable resources around. If you manage to land yourself a stockpile, you may even be able to use it as a bargaining tool for other items.

It’s a good idea to learn how to tie all sorts of different knots. This is a valuable skill that everyone in your group will benefit from.

🚰 2. Portable Water Bottle

Ok, so while rope is important, there isn’t anything more vital to survival than water. But, there’s an argument to be made that a portable water bottle is even more critical. After all, if you have water, if you haven’t got anything to put it in, you’re stuck.

As such, a portable water bottle would be very hard to get your hands on if the apocalypse comes, whether you’re on the run from a zombie uprising or you’re forced to live underground in a shelter after a nuclear war.

Another benefit of a portable water bottle is that it can be used to sterilize water. All you need to do is leave it out in the sun, and the Sun’s UV rays will pass through and clean the water of its foul inhabitants. This is a more subtle application but certainly worth knowing.

So, the next time you come across an abandoned superstore, check out the water bottle section before you even think of doing anything else.

💊 3. First Aid Supplies

First aid is such an important skill in today’s world, but in the event of an apocalypse, it becomes a matter of life and death. It comes even more important if you’re on your own, and you injure yourself.

There are many reasons why you need first aid supplies – and they are exactly why everyone else will be after them.

First, assuming you don’t have antibiotics on hand, even a small cut can have some devastating implications. Open wounds are subject to infection.BORJun18v2

However, mix clean water (courtesy of your portable water bottle) with salt and vinegar, and you have yourself a homemade remedy.

If you get bitten by an animal or something worse, it’s essential to know how to treat it. Again, it’s to prevent infection. First aid supplies come with items like bandages and cloths to prevent bleeding and other solutions to create a makeshift antibiotic.

👟 4. Light Shoes

Shoes For Survival

This may seem like an unusual item to be on this list, but it’s almost guaranteed that if you try to find a pair of light shoes like these, your luck will be out.

Why?

First, lightweight shoes will help you get from A to B faster. The last thing you need while you’re on the move are some heavy bricks on your feet, slowing you down and sapping your energy.

Second is that they’re comfortable. Imagine having to deal with the painful blisters on every step you take. At best, they’ll serve as an unwanted distraction. At worst, they can get infected and be the death of you.

Also, light shoes provide a lot of support, which is much-needed, given that you’ll be on your feet for much of the day.

Just think of why an athlete wears lightweight footwear. Now, while you won’t be competing for a gold medal anytime soon, the benefits still translate across well.

🥫 5. Dry Food

The final thing you won’t likely find anywhere if the apocalypse comes is dry food. At the end of the day, you need food to live. And with dry food, as you can probably guess, it’s going to last longer.

There are all sorts of dry food options out there, but there some that will be more popular than others.

Peanut butter is one such food. This is because it contains protein, carbs, and fats. PB2 is a dry alternative peanut butter, but it’s likely going to be just as scarce.

Canned meat and fish is another good source of dry food. It’ll help mix things up a bit if all you’re doing is eating peanut butter at every meal. Canned meats come pre-cooked so you can eat them straight from the tin.

Energy bars, cereal bars or granola bars will also be in high demand. They’ll provide a quick burst of energy and nutrients – and best of all, they’ll pretty much last forever.

🖊️ Final Words

If you ever thought about preparing for the end of the world, then you should make these five items a priority. If you don’t, you’ll be left wanting. Preparation is the key to survival, so get them while you can.

  1. Before I read the article I made a mental list of five things that you won’t find, just to see how close I would match up with your article. What I came up with was:
    Ammunition
    Antibiotics and maintenance medications
    Batteries for flashlights, optics, etc.
    Gasoline and diesel fuel
Food – whether canned, frozen or dry

Of course, all of these items (yours and mine) can and should be pre-stored and rotated. I would add that the portable water bottles need to be made of metal. It’s impossible to boil water over a fire using a plastic bottle.
