A short on gut instinct, the sixth sense and intuition, and their dire importance to survival-type scenarios. First and foremost, it is of extreme importance, at the moment, to understand that this subject of intuition doesn’t only apply to survival and off-grid situations, but to nearly all of life’s scenarios.
Camping reconnects you with nature, but it also tests your ability to adapt, think clearly, and rely on your instincts. Modern comfort and technology have made many people forget essential survival skills for camping, such as how to find clean water, build a fire, or stay warm when gear fails. Without these abilities, even a short weekend trip can turn risky fast.
When you find yourself in a survival situation or off-grid scenario, there is one very important factor to keep in mind (notably so, if you are as carnivorous as I am). I write this article about tracking as I travel, by bus, across the country, and am starving for some good red meat, but no stops are in sight.

We could start this here article with a big long section on the importance of understanding how to read a map. However, I fear that that would take up every bit of the word count I have available. The number one reason, I am sure we preppers are all aware of, is the fact that with a grid fall (how unlikely is that…laugh out loud…) would take away our little magic abilities know as cell phones and GPS.
In most cases, the first thing to strike in a crisis-like circumstance, be it lone-surviving a plane crash in the ocean or finding yourself stuck as a hostage to violent terrorists, is fear. As we preppers should be fully aware, it is fear that inevitably leads to panic. This is precisely what happens to many people as soon as they find themselves in a potential survival situation.
